Configuring X-Lite Softphone for Android

If you're looking to integrate your X-Lite softphone with your Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) cluster, there are a few steps you'll need to take to get started. While not strictly necessary, it's recommended that you create a SIP device and user object in CUCM before proceeding.

To begin, download the X-Lite application from its official website. The configuration process is relatively straightforward and quick, making it an ideal choice for testing feature behaviors with your 3rd party SIP phones.

For my testing, I used CUCM version 7.0-1 (equivalent to 7.1(3b)SU1), but the basic configuration should be applicable to all CUCM appliance models. X-Lite is a popular and free softphone that seemed like a reasonable choice for this example.

Once you've downloaded and installed the X-Lite application, you'll need to create a SIP device and user object in your CUCM cluster. This will allow you to register your softphone with your CUCM server without requiring a password. You may also need to perform some additional ancillary activities to ensure proper integration.
